Comic Book CPR is a collective of experienced collectors, pressers, and educators who have spent more than a decade studying, testing, and refining the science and practice of comic book cleaning and pressing. While the Comic Book CPR brand was formally established with the release of Michael Frederik Sorensen's first book, Comic Book CPR, in 2019, the foundational work behind it began years earlier. Our team members have been actively cleaning and pressing comic books since 2015 or longer, developing techniques through hands-on application, controlled experimentation, and real-world results across thousands of books.
What sets Comic Book CPR apart is a commitment to accuracy, transparency, and repeatable outcomes. Every method we teach is peer reviewed within the hobby, tested across different paper stocks and eras, and supported by observable, science-based principles such as fiber behavior, humidity control, heat transfer, and pressure distribution. We do not rely on shortcuts, myths, or unverified tricks—our guidance is built on what works consistently and safely over time. This approach has earned Comic Book CPR recognition as a trusted authority for collectors seeking to understand not just how to clean and press comics, but why each step matters.
Each founding member of Comic Book CPR also operates independently within the hobby, offering cleaning and pressing services through their own respective platforms. This decentralized model reinforces our philosophy: collectors are encouraged to shop local when possible, reduce unnecessary shipping risk, and work with professionals who apply the same standards and principles taught under the Comic Book CPR banner. Together, our combined experience, documentation, and education efforts represent over ten years of dedicated focus on comic book conservation, positioning Comic Book CPR as a leading authority in modern comic book cleaning and pressing.
